BRC Annual Meeting Productive
A few months ago many homeowners met and discussed different topics concerning our neighborhood. It was good to share ideas and thoughts, and here is a review of what we talked about:
* The Beautification Committee shared information on their work and finances. They have done a great job with the donations from homeowners, and many of their expenses have been for decorations that are reusable. They have over $400 in the account for future projects.
* Road repairs have been completed in section 1. They started the first week of October, and finished November 8th.
* Safety and Solicitation was reviewed. We were reminded to keep an eye on each others houses, and that if solicitors knock, to consider dismissing them, and even calling the police to alert them to people possibly "casing homes". Also, even though we have a "no solicitors" sign in the neighborhood, the police can't enforce one coming to your house unless your own house has its own sign.
* The annual Bonfire/Block Party was October 15th. The weather was perfect, there was a good crowd, and it seemed like everyone that went had a great time. The food and fire were wonderful.
* Dog waste disposal from the common areas is an ongoing problem. Please pick up after your pets if they go anywhere other than your own yard, and ensure that your younger dog-walkers are doing the same.
* We are looking into improving the lights at the entrance and the Estate section. We would also like to find people to help clear dead lumber from the wetland areas. Please reply to us if you have the equipment and experience to fell and cut dead trees.
* We are going to consider getting bids for single companies to provide services like lawn treatment and trash disposal to all neighbors, hopefully at a reduced rate.
Neighborhood Trash Disposal Company Chosen
We got bids from 3 of the largest waste disposal companies in Louisville, and we have a clear choice for the best option for BRC. Industrial Disposal will offer weekly pickup of 2 cans, weekly pickup of one "bulk item" (call to schedule), and 2 "junk days" per year, for $30 per quarter. Recycling can be added (every other Thursday, yellow lid cans) for $9 per quarter. Yard waste pickup is also available (extra charge). They will require a 2 year contract, but there will be no fuel charge during that time.
Current customers can call ID now at 638-9000, and tell them you would like to switch to our neighborhood plan. Other customers can call to begin new service at any time, but we need 80% participation by this time next year, in order to maintain this deal with ID.
We urge homes that aren't currently using ID to please consider changing to them. It will save you money, reduce noise and wear on the streets, and present a more uniform look on trash days. Even if you have had service issues or disagreements with ID in the past, please try them again for the next 2 years. We think you'll be glad you did.
